Ucore Rare Metals Business Summary
Ucore Rare Metals Inc. (UURAF) is an advanced technology company specializing in the midstream separation and refining of heavy rare earth elements (HREEs) to secure North American supply chain independence. The company generates revenue through the production and sale of high-purity rare earth oxides (REOs) and the provision of metal separation services, utilizing its proprietary RapidSX™ technology. This column-based solvent extraction platform offers a 2-4x throughput advantage and a significantly smaller physical footprint compared to conventional mixer-settler systems. Ucore’s primary business segments include its Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex (SMC), which is scaling toward a 2,000-tonne-per-annum (tpa) commercial launch in late 2026, and its 100%-owned Bokan-Dotson Ridge HREE resource in Alaska. Positioned as a specialized midstream processor, Ucore competes directly with MP Materials, Energy Fuels, and Arafura Rare Earths, distinguishing itself through its modular technology-driven approach and a strategic focus on high-value elements like dysprosium and terbium. The leadership team is led by Chairman and CEO Pat Ryan, P.Eng., an automotive industry veteran who founded Neocon International and brings over 30 years of experience in OEM design and global supply chain management. He is supported by Vice President and COO Mike Schrider, P.Eng., a multidisciplinary engineer who previously founded SAi and ABD, and CFO Peter Manuel, a Chartered Accountant with two decades of experience in resource-sector financial strategy. The executive team also includes VP of Business Development Geoff Atkins, formerly of Lynas and Vital Metals, who provides deep expertise in rare earth project delivery. Ucore’s commercialization is heavily de-risked by significant public-sector backing, including a $22.4 million Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) from the U.S. Department of Defense and $36.3 million in conditional funding from the Government of Canada, alongside strategic board oversight from independent directors such as Dr. Jaroslav Dostal and Steven Meister.
